Weeding & Pruning
Cultural Weeds that Choke our Life of Discipleship
(Please pardon the dirt and dust. This Website is being overhauled at the moment so there may be things that are missing. I’ll get it all up just as soon as I can! Note: This page is likely one of the last to be done at this time.)
When it comes to the life of a follower of Jesus, we need not only consider rhythms of discipleship that nourish our souls, but we must also consider “weeds of culture” - behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs (conscious and unconscious) that subtly (and in some cases obviously) choke out our life of discipleship.
This page will explore a variety of ways of thinking/being that are ingrained in our cultures (nationally, family-wise, church-wise, etc.) that often unknowingly trip us up, such as consumerism, expressive individualism, secularism, distraction, digital pluralism, and all kind of “isms”. As disciples, we want to ask not only how we are to be formed in Jesus, but also how we are to be unformed in the ways of our cultures around us.
Note: This will probably be the last section in this restructuring to get up and running. Thanks for your patience.
